The National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says yes they are cheap.
While responding to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s comments on cheap politicians and trade unionists that are influencing striking ATS workers, Prasad says that they are cheap in the sense that they are not on a salary of over $328,000 annually.
He says they do not get an average of $3000 daily in allowances for overseas travel and always fly first class when travelling overseas like Bainimarama.
Prasad says they are cheap because they earn only $50,000 per year, because they use their personal resources to help the needy in whatever little form they can and have provided humanitarian assistance to the ATS workers to bring smiles to their faces.
He says they wear this as a badge of honour.
While opening a rural electrification project in Navuca, Tailevu, Bainimarama said while the workers are being misled to continue with the strike, the unionists and politicians are going back to their homes and continue with their plan to build their campaign platform for the election.
He has called on all Fijians to think carefully for themselves.
The Prime Minister has asked people not to buy into false promises from people such as high earning trade union officials and politicians who do not understand your situation.
