Behavioral changes can tackle the rise of Non-communicable Diseases.
This is the message that Miss Fiji Society for the Blind Jessica Fong hopes to promote at the Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Festival this week and she believes that too many lives are lost to a disease that can be fought through a mere change of lifestyle.
Fong who is a first year MBBS student at FNU says that she also hopes to encourage young people to use technology to build themselves and their connections as she believes that the use of social media also comes with responsibilities that people need to be made aware of.
The 23-year-old says that she hopes to also make her family proud and hopes that the Hibiscus Festival can be a way for her to give back to the community through charity.
The Kaila Star Search finals were held last night with Marika Bosekoviti announced the winner and has walked away with $1,000 prize money.
Second runner up was Senitiki Tuicakau while Maraya Dolenauca won first runner up.
Meanwhile the Queen’s first public judging and Sarong judging will be held at 7pm tomorrow at the Valelevu Grounds.
Miss Suva City Council, Simran Nand has won the Queen’s Best Research Award while Mr Trendy Fashions, Manasa Navara won the King’s Best Research Award
