FijiFirst MP Balmindar Singh says he will not resign from parliament although he is facing a charge in court and owes money to a hardware company.
Singh has been charged with assault and drunk driving in separate cases, and recently a hardware company had to write to the Speaker Doctor Jiko Luveni about Singh not paying his bills.
The assault case was dismissed after Singh reconciled with the victim.
However he is charged with one count of dangerous driving and one count of failure to supply sufficient analysis on the direction of the police officer.
It is alleged that Balmindar Singh was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and refused to give a test when asked by a police officer along Kings Road in Nakasi in June.
When Fijivillage questioned Singh on whether he will resign as he is facing serious charges and has not paid his bills to the hardware company - which also sets a bad example, Singh said that he won’t step down.
We are yet to get a comment from FijiFirst General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
