Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama today handed over $1 million worth of garbage trucks to three municipalities at a handing over ceremony in Lautoka.
Bainimarama says out of the eight trucks, two each will be given to the Nadi Town Council and the Lautoka City Council and three trucks to the Nasinu Town Council.
He says waste has to be managed well, or people will become demoralized and frustrated and lose their sense of pride in their city.
The Prime Minister says a clean city with a public that treats rubbish responsibly is a proud city, a safe city, and a city where people want to live and invest in.
The Prime Minister is also reminding every Fijian that keeping Fiji clean is everyone's responsibility.
