Bail extended for two PWD employees

Bail has been extended for two Public Works Department employees.

Kameli Yacalevu is charged with one count of accepting an advantage and Saiyad Aziz who is charged with one count of soliciting an advantage appeared in the Suva Magistrate Court.

The court heard that Yacalevu has requested to change his plea after consultation with his lawyer.

He accordingly pleaded guilty to the second charge of accepting an advantage.

It is alleged that while being a prescribed officer attached to the Public Works Department as Supervisor High Grade, Yacalevu is alleged to accepted an advantage of $150 without the general or special permission of the President.

It is alleged that while being a prescribed officer attached to the Public Works Department as a Machinist, Aziz is alleged to have solicited an advantage of $300.00 from Nitinesh Naidu without the general or special permission of the President.

The matter has been adjourned to the 2nd of next month for the Summary of Facts.
