8 children were identified by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation who were selling food items late in the evenings in some of the busy shopping centres around Suva city.
The Ministry has taken a concerted effort to address the cases of children found selling food items in Suva.
Permanent Secretary Dr Josefa Koroivueta says a collaborative network has been formed between the Fiji Police Force, Ministry of Labour, Suva City Council and the Ministry of Children to closely monitor this issue.
He also says the Ministry has taken in children who had been neglected by their parents and guardians from attending school.
