The National Fire Authority and the Police Forensics team are still looking for leads to determine the cause of fire which destroyed a three bedroom house at Velovelo in Lautoka on Monday night.

37-year-old Kamlesh Reddy lost his life in the incident.

Police say Reddy was sleeping at home with his 38-year-old brother and 65-year-old father when the incident happened at 10.30pm.

It is alleged that the fire started from the victim’s room.

The victim’s brother and father ran out of the house and tried to save Reddy but they were unsuccessful.

Reddy’s uncle, Prem Krishna Naicker says Reddy’s father told him that they made sure that the stove was off when they went to sleep and they do not use kerosene lamps or candles.

He says that Reddy’s father and the elder brother are assisting the NFA and the Police Forensics to ascertain the cause of fire.
