The Australian‑funded Access to Quality Education Program has been extended for an additional year.
44,000 primary and secondary school students representing 21% of all students in schools in Fiji have benefitted from the program since its establishment.
The Access to Quality Education program represents an assistance package of AUD58 million to Fiji’s education sector over seven years.
It is currently providing support to 85 targeted primary schools.
Australian High Commission Counsellor for Development Cooperation in Fiji, Christina Munzer said the program has been extended to end on 30th June 2018.
She said this is to focus on rebuilding school infrastructure damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
The program ensures children from the most disadvantaged communities including those with a disability have access to quality school education.
