An Australian national who is charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court this morning.
Acting Commissioner of Police Henry Brown had earlier clarified that the recent $30 million heroin bust at the Lautoka wharf was not destined for Fiji rather it was a transshipment case.
Brown said due to the sensitivity of the investigation he will not be able to divulge more information on how the information was brought to their attention at first but he can confirm that the drugs was not for Fiji.
Brown has also clarified that the heroin bust was not an isolated case as Police continues to work with the Fiji Revenue Customs Authority networks, Australian law enforcement authorities as well as officials from Laos and Thailand where the container was initially shipped from.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-businessman, Mohammed Shaheed Khan charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs has been remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.
