The founder of Fiji Fashion Week, Ellen Whippy‑Knight believes that the 14 designers who showcased their collection on the first night wowed audiences and the fashion industry.
Whippy‑Knight says that all the designers last night which included the emerging designers, got out of their comfort zone and impressed audiences.
She says the 7 runways worked well as they had planned with designers experimenting the runways for the first time in Fiji.
Meanwhile, the youngest designer in the show Rafa Ganilau Lee says the inspiration of his collection was drawn from the memories of his late sister.
Lee says that he is proud to have successfully showcased his talent at his first fashion show despite being the youngest designer.
The Creative Director of Aqua Blu Australia, Kristian Chase says the 7 runways was daring as it pushed the designers to step up and put on a successful show.
Chase says it was very chaotic and stressful to put designs together as they were pushed for time, however the designers enjoyed the challenge.
Fourth generation Fijian, Robert Kennedy was also acknowledged as last night marked his 10 year show with Fiji Fashion Week.
Kennedy say he looks forward to being part of the show as it continues to grow each year.
Re‑known local designer, Michael Mausio says the 7 runways were a challenge for him on trying to plan uniformity and what to show at what time.
For 26‑year‑old Samal Singh, who has been part of the Fiji Fashion Week for the past 9 years he dedicated his collection to his mother who is his inspiration watching her work at a garment factory.
Fiji Fashion Week Resort Luxe Show will begin at 7.30pm tonight.
