Aspiring leaders address Youth Parliament

Aspiring leaders took the floor today in parliament to present their maiden speeches in Fiji’s Youth Parliament.

The first youth parliament session today was supervised by the Speaker of Parliament, Dr Jiko Luveni while second session done by the Deputy Speaker, Ruveni Nadalo.

While addressing parliament, Luveni thanked all the youth parliamentarians for sharing their experiences and addressing social issues which the country is facing.

She also thanked the organizers for making the youth parliament gender balanced. 

Several issues were addressed by youth parliamentarians today were gender inequality, the education of youth, rural development and broader employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Youth Parliament Prime Minister Paulini Turagabeci said that she will continue to empower women and girls to be politically active in our society.

In her maiden speech in Fiji’s youth parliament today, Turagabeci highlighted the important role that women play in the improvement and empowerment of our nation

She said that women should always be represented at a national level such as parliament.

She also thanked Aspire Network for organizing such a wonderful initiative that brings together a group of talented individuals to discuss issues of national interest.

Turagabeci has also called on all youths around the country to be an agent of change in their communities.

She has also highlighted her plans of running for parliament in the near future.

All youth parliamentarians that took part in Fiji’s Youth Parliament session were all given Certificates of Participation.
