The hearing on the bail variation application filed by the Fiji Times Limited Publisher Hank Arts will be held on the 17th of January next year at the Suva High Court before a new Judge.
The matter was called before High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando today.
The defence counsel told the court that both sets of submissions have been filed and requested if a hearing can be done today.
Arts wants to travel to New Zealand to attend his daughter’s wedding in February next year.
Arts, Fiji Times Editor Fred Wesley, Nai Lalakai Editor Anare Ravula, contributor Josaia Waqabaca and the Fiji Times Limited are charged with inciting communal antagonism.
It is alleged that Arts, Wesley, Ravula, Waqabaca, and the Fiji Times Limited made, or caused to be published, a statement in the iTaukei language in the Nai Lalakai newspaper that is likely to incite dislike, hatred, or antagonism of the Muslim community.
