About 50% of the liquid milk consumed in Fiji is imported.
Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Limited Chief Executive Officer Sachida Nand said around 10 to 12 million litres of milk is imported per year to fulfill the demand.
Nand said a total of 20 to 22 million litres of liquid milk is consumed in Fiji annually.
He said Central Division produces the highest amount of milk in Fiji.
Nand said to enhance production they are preparing a new feed for the dairy animals.
He said this feed will contain all the nutrients required by the dairy animals in the right proportions.
