Around 20 women will be coming together for a good cause of building a house for a 55‑year‑old grandmother at the end of the month.
As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, Habitat for Humanity Fiji has made preparations to host its first Women’s Build from the 29TH to the 31st of March at Nakorovou village in Rewa.
Habitat for Humanity Fiji National Director Masi Latianara says through the Women’s Build, Habitat Fiji wants to highlight the contribution that women make to our built environment and in particular to our homes and communities.
Latianara says quite often it is the woman that is at home when the plumber or carpenter comes to make repairs and raising women’s awareness around construction, will help break down many preconceived barriers around construction and allow women to have more informed and confident discussions regarding the needs of their families, including repairs, extensions, building safety and construction budgets.
