The Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem has rejected suggestions by the People’s Democratic Party that the Police and the Army are voting a day before the general elections.
While speaking in a campaign meeting in Narere, PDP President, Lynda Tabuya said that it is unfair for the Army and the Police to vote a day before the general election.
Tabuya claims that this has been done to assess where the members of the disciplined forces stand before Election Day.
Saneem said all parties know that pre-polling is allowed under the Electoral Decree.
He said those in essential services will be allowed to vote in early September.
Saneem said the Police will provide security on the day of the election so they will be part of the pre-poll process while he says the members of the RFMF are all in the barracks so they will cast their votes early at the barracks.
However Saneem said none of these votes will be counted until the end of polling.
