The Divisional Disaster Management Office is working with the Water Authority of Fiji to cart water to areas that are facing prolonged dry weather conditions in the Northern Division.
Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu said they have located the most affected areas like Udu Point, Kia Island, Cikobia Island, Yanuca, Yacata, Navakau village in Taveuni.
These include schools in these areas that are in need of water.
He added that Water Authority is already covering the Bua province such as Nabunabuna Primary School, Nawaca Primary and Secondary School, and Napuka Catholic Primary School in Cakaudrove East.
He said that in Seaqaqa the Water Authority has targeted schools and nearby villages from yesterday.
Meanwhile Bolalevu is advising public to refrain from burning rubbish, bush and sugar cane.
He said that this will affect the water source and the infrastructure such as power poles and urging people to stop from causing any more disaster.
Data provided by the National Fire Authority revealed that they had attended 484 fires for the month of August of which a 100 have been cane fire reports while 384 have been bush and rubbish fire reports.
