LTA CEO says appropriate actions are taken on all valid complaints that are reported on the Land Transport Authority’s free texting platform, 582.
CEO Naisa Tuinaceva says there is a dedicated national call center team based at the LTA headquarters in Nasinu that deals with all queries and complaints in coordination with other LTA departments and relevant stakeholders that are lodged not only on 582.
Tuinaceva says the Authority issues traffic infringement notices and warning letters, de-register vehicles used in illegal operations and also puts habitual offenders through the show cause disciplinary hearing whereby a driver’s driving license can also be suspended if the person is unable to justify their recklessness on our roads.
These were highlighted after taxi drivers of the Suva City Base raised concerns with Legend FM news that they had made several complaints on the texting platform 582 about the illegal operation of taxi’s from other areas but no action had been taken.
