Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho says in light of the recent discoveries of bars of cocaine on our shores, the Fiji Police Force has put in place an amnesty period effective from today to Monday 20th August to allow those who may have made similar discoveries to turn over the illicit drugs to Police.
Qiliho says information has been received about persons trying to sell the illicit drugs and while investigations are ongoing, they are calling on anyone who may have found any bars of cocaine to utilise this amnesty period and hand them over to Police.
Any person who without lawful authority acquires, supplies possesses, manufactures, cultivates, uses or administers an illicit drug; or engages in any dealings with any other person for the transfer, transport, supply, use, manufacture, offer, sale, import or export of an illicit drug, commits an offence and will be prosecuted under the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.
Members of the public are requested to call on the toll free number 3318 529 if they have any information or may have made similar discoveries of cocaine.
