It is a new beginning for Amar Kumar after receiving a new Kawasaki brushcutter worth $700 from the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Sofia Akbar.
Kumar said he has been begging on the streets of Suva for the last four years and the new brushcutter will help him with income for his mother, 21-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter currently under the care of his ex-wife.
While receiving the brushcutter, Kumar said his targeting to earn at least $200 a week so that he can also save some money for his family.
He said he has already secured some customers, as he starts with his grass cutting business today.
The 43-year-old who is a divorcee said his 12-year-old daughter lives with her mother while his son does casual work.
