Fiji is estimated to have 45 new cases of child cancer every year out of which approximately 50% are seen.
This is according to Health Minister Jone Usamate during the launch of the Children Cancer Awareness Month.
Usamate said the statistics from the CWM Hospital from 1997 till 2007 shows that 129 children were diagnosed with cancer.
Out of this, 70 children received no active treatment.
He added only 4 of the children who received treatment are long term survivors.
