A 35-year-old woman has told the Suva High Court that she was raped by 39-year-old security officer, Josua Colanaudolu in a dog house in 2002.
As the woman gave her evidence in the High Court trial, she wept through out and gave details to the court on how Colanaudolu forced her to go with him by threatening her with a knife.
The woman who was 20-years-old at the time of the alleged incident told High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo that she was breast-feeding her newborn baby when Colanaudolu entered their home in the middle of the night.
She said Colanaudolu covered her mouth and forcefully took her to a tree which was near an Assemblies of God Church and his mother’s house.
The woman told the court that Colanaudolu pushed her inside the dog house and raped her.
She said that Colanaudolu had also punched her.
The prosecution witness said that Colanaudolu ran away from the scene when a woman came near the dog house when she heard her crying.
The woman also told the court that she told her mother about the incident.
However she said that her mother told her to not say a word about the incident after speaking to Colanaudolu’s mother.
The woman told the court that she reported the matter last year after her niece’s body was discovered on the beach because she also has a daughter of the same age and she cares about her.
She said they are not living far away from Colanaudolu’s house and she was scared that something will happen to her daughter.
During cross-examination, defence lawyer, Lavinia David asked the woman why she did not report the matter to Police after the incident as she was 20 years old.
The woman told the court that she was living with her parents and they had decided not to report the matter.
David then suggested to the woman that she did not report the matter to Police because it never happened and she is making up stories to blame Colanaudolu.
The woman said the incident happened and she is not making up stories.
Meanwhile the fourth prosecution witness who is Colanaudolu’s relative told the court that she was raped by Colanaudolu in November 2012.
The 22-year-old told the court that it was the worst day of her life.
The woman said Colanaudolu punched her ribs and thighs and told her that he will kill her if she continues to scream.
She said that she told the Police about the alleged incident last year after the death of the 14-year-old girl in Deuba as she did not want this to happen to anyone.
Three women who were allegedly raped by Colanaudolu, have already taken the stand.
Colanaudolu is facing one count of murder, 6 counts of rape, 4 counts of abduction and one count of indecently annoying a female.
