All doctors employed by government to get pay rise from January 1st, 2017

All doctors employed by the government will get a pay rise from January 1st, 2017.

This was announced by Minister of Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the National Budget announcement.

The healthy pay increases are from 56% to 81%.

Sayed-Khaiyum said that $40 million has been allocated for this.

Members of the public can also expect a continuation of Free Medicine for anyone who earns a salary below $20,000 and the medication list includes 142 medicines.

People can also expect services to be upgraded such as more beddings and linens, new vaccines and x-ray materials as $37.7 million has been allocated for this.

Mothers can rest easy in the CWM Maternity Unit after government allocated $3 million for its extension works.

People of Ba should look forward to a new hospital in their area as $13.4 million has been allocated for this, $4.1 million will help build a new Naulu Health centre while Keyasi Health centre will get an upgrade after an allocation of $6.3 million.
