Albert Park will undergo major development work from April and is expected to be closed until the end of the year.
Suva City Council Special Administrator, Chandu Umaria said this also means that the ground will not be available for the Hibiscus Festival.
He said they informed the committee last year to look for another venue.
Umaria said they are waiting for a report from Geotech Engineers as the ground will be raised.
The redevelopment work which is expected to cost $16 million will see a new thousand seating capacity grandstand along Ratu Cakobau Road and a new turf.
Meanwhile Umaria said Ratu Sukuna Park will also be upgraded to the standard of My Suva Picnic Park.
He said more bures and food stalls will be constructed.
