The government has announced that Airports Fiji Limited will now be known as Fiji Airports Limited.

While making the announcement at the Nadi International Airport, Attorney-General and Minister responsible for Civil Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that the significance of the name change is essentially branding adding that a number of changes have been made to other companies to ensure that the brand of Fiji is marketed.

He adds that it is also symbolic of the fact that Fiji Airports Limited does not only look after Nadi International Airport but also looks after all the airports in Fiji.
Sayed-Khaiyum also pointed out that Fiji is also competing with other countries in the region and the rest of the world and Fiji needs to be able to stay one step ahead of the game and offer good products and position our country.

He says as any government would do the idea is to ensure ordinary Fijians benefit from the branding.
Sayed-Khaiyum acknowledged the hard work of the staff of Fiji Airports Limited adding that the future of the airports restson the shoulders of its’ staff.

The Attorney General also announced that the official opening of Fiji Airports Limited will be done the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama next Monday.

The re-naming is also part of the move towards modernisation plan following the completion of the multi-million dollar Nadi International Airport.
