Airports Fiji Limited made $91.53 million in operating revenue for 2015, which is one of the highest recorded so far.
This was highlighted by AFL’s Financial Analyst, Vineet Naidu while making a submission to the Public Accounts Committee on the 2015 Audit Report on State Owned Entities and Statutory Authorities.
Naidu told the committee that in 2015, their operating expenditure was $45.88 million, adding that this is the lowest in the last five years.
He says they also paid a dividend of about $15 million to the government.
Naidu highlighted to the committee that they made a net operating profit before tax was $46.04 million.
When asked by committee member and SODELPA MP, Aseri Radrodro on what is the main source of revenue generator, Naidu says some of the major revenue earners are aeronautical revenue, air navigation revenue and commercial revenue which they get from their tenants at the airports.
Naidu says the reason they saw an increase in revenue was because their submission of review of charges with the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission of aeronautical charges were successful.
He adds that their aeronautical charges are regulated by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission and AFL cannot change it at their own will.
Airports Fiji Limited looks after the Nadi International Airport, Nausori International Airport and 13 other airports and airstrips in the country.
