Airports Fiji Limited handed over a dividend cheque of $10 million to the government yesterday.
AFL board chairman Faiz Khan said that they have declared a $5 million dividend for 2012 and another $5 million dividend for 2013, making total dividend payout of $10 million.
Khan said this is historical because in the past, dividend payouts were generally around $1 million every year.
He said that the significant growth of their profits and cash flow positions has allowed them to deliver such a large payout.
He added that the cash flow position has also allowed them to carry out major development such as the $105 million Nadi Airport modernization project which is being currently undertaken.
While receiving the cheque this morning, Minister for Public Enterprise, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum appreciated the AFL board’s initiative for working together to take the organisation forward.
He also said that Airport Fiji Limited’s achievement would not have been made possible without the appropriate reforms and help from government.
