The Agriculture Ministry will have discussions with the relevant stakeholders this week to assist farmers in the rural areas since the dry weather season has started in the country.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Uraia Waibuta says that their officials are already on the ground to monitor the situation.
Waibuta says they will try to locate the nearest water sources and work out ways of connection to supply water to the affected farming areas in the Northern and Western Division.
He also adds that a program is underway to assist farmers to preserve the feed for cattle and livestock.
Waibuta highlighted this after farmers in the country raised concerns about shortage of water and feed for their farms.
A farmer, Mohammed Sharif of Vunivere in Seaqaqa told Fijivillage that due to dry weather they find it difficult to feed the livestock.
He says that he has 90 cattle and because of the dry season two have died.
Sharif says that he feeds his cattle mill mix and molasses.
Waibuta says that they will have to get more details from their technical team before they take any action.
