The Fiji Electoral Security Advisory Group which is responsible for planning electoral security for the next General Election has developed a terms of reference.
This group is made up of the Fijian Elections Office, Fiji Police Force and Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption.
The Terms of Reference was signed by Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem and FICAC Investigations Manager Niko Bukarau.
The Fiji Electoral Security Advisory Group emerged after the Electoral Risk Management Workshop which was conducted by International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in April this year.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the group will provide a common platform for security agencies and FEO operations to share information on security matters at the election.
He says the Fijian Elections office will provide the necessary facilities for the proper functioning of the Advisory group.
The core responsibilities of the Fiji Electoral Security Advisory Group will be to review and analyse the Fijian Elections Office Operations Plans to identify and highlight security issues that are likely to arise.
It will also provide feedback and recommendations to resolve the security issues.
