The activation of the government's subsidy on dialysis services at the Northern Dialysis Centre has been announced.
The announcement was done by Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar.
Akbar says kidney patients with a household income of less than $30,000 pay $75 per session and children below the age of 18 years will receive dialysis services for free.
The Minister says the government will subsidize the remaining costs.
She says this is part of the $3.5 million announced in the budget to cater for dialysis costs around the country.
Meanwhile, Friends of Fiji has handed over two anesthetic machines and a legasure machine to the Labasa Hospital.
