Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum met with residents of Vilalevu, at Valley Road in Sigatoka to simplify the National Budget especially the new initiatives and changes that were announced earlier this year.
Sayed‑Khaiyum was at the gathering on the invite of the residents on the occasion of weeklong prayers at a Hindu Temple.
He held an informal talanoa session with residents who sought clarification on various issues pertaining to Land, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Senior Citizens Pension Scheme, Government's Student Loan Scheme and on the recently announced 2017/2018 national budget.
Committee member of the temple Arvind Chand says the key reason for the invitation was based on the request by the committee for the purpose of simplifying the National Budget.
Chand says all the residents in Vilalevu are commercial farmers however, many of them do not have a good education background thus the reason for the invitation was to clarify many of the issues and also simplify the budget for their residents.
