About 9,000 people are currently on the Housing Authority of Fiji waiting list after they have qualified for the lot allocation criteria.
Acting Board Chairman Umarji Musa says the Housing Authority is undertaking a number of land development projects simultaneously at an unprecedented pace.
This includes the development of 175 land lots in Nepani, 730 land lots in Davuilevu, 530 land lots in Tavakubu in Lautoka and 119 land lots in Koronisalusalu in Tavua.
These land development projects cost $60 million and will be ready in 12 to 18 months.
Musa says they will also be soon proposing 620 land lots in Veikoba in Nasinu and there will also be a Strata project soon.
He says it has been an inspiration to consider developing strata units and models where customers property values appreciate over time.
176 land lots are also being proposed in Wainibuku and he says this project is at the feasibility stage at the moment.
