Around 200 people attended a prayer ceremony last night at the Fiji Sevashram Sangha in Bau street, Flagstaff to pray for the 45 Fijian peacekeepers who are currently held captive by the Al Nusra group in Syria.
Swami Sanyuktanand who led the prayer said Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum accepted their request and also prayed with everyone last night.
He said they will be having similar prayer ceremonies in the coming days for the Fijian peacekeepers at their 43 centres around the country and people from all faiths can take part in it.
Swami Sanyuktanand said this a national issue and everyone should get together and pray for those who are part of us and have gone in other countries to serve and do peacekeeping.
He said they praying to the almighty for an early return of all the Fijian troops.
