Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made it clear today that the money allocated for Executive Government Residences in the 2016/2017 National Budget is not only for the Prime Minister’s residence.
His comments come after Fiji Times published a front page today that the Prime Minister will get $5 million to construct his residence.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that the newspaper has deliberately distorted and painted the picture that the Prime Minister will get a $5 million home.
He says that an advertisement in January stated clearly what residences are included in the upgrading and maintenance of Executive Government Residences.
Sayed-Khaiyum adds that the Head 50 allocation does not say that the allocation was specifically for the Prime Minister’s home.
