The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has called on justice institutions in the country to jealously guard their independence.
He says the Police, Corrections Service, Judiciary and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions should not allow what happened previously to crawl back into the system.
Speaking at the launch of the Fiji and EU Access to Justice Programme, Sayed-Khaiyum says these organisations cannot be interfered with or politically pressured to follow whatever is the will of the political sway.
Sayed-Khaiyum and the European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs signed a financing agreement worth 7.5 million Euros for the Fiji Access to Justice Project today.
