Asian Development Bank, Director General Pacific Department Carmela Locsin says the 52nd ADB annual meeting has come to the Pacific Islands at a remarkable time when the ADB is scaling up its financial and technical support in the region.
While addressing media earlier this morning, she says they strive to continue to improve the lives of the region’s close to 13 million people.
Locsin says they are scaling up their Asian Development Fund annual base allocation from 6 to 13 million dollars per year for 2019 and 2020.
She adds they are scaling up co-financing including in climate change.
It is a historic moment for Fiji, as this is the first time an ADB annual meeting is being held in a Pacific Island nation.
Close to 3,000 delegates are expected to be part of discussions at this annual meeting that will run till Sunday.
