A stop departure has been issued against an athlete who is alleged to have been involved in a bribery case in Nadi last Monday.
The athlete is charged with bribery and false and misleading documents.
It is alleged that the athlete offered $500 to a Senior Customs Officer at the Customs Intelligence Unit in Nadi to release a consignment containing the prohibited goods.
It is also alleged that the athlete produced Tax Identification Numbers which were false.
He has been released on a bail bond of $2,000 with strict bail conditions.
The Nadi Magistrates Court has ordered him to surrender all travel documents.
A curfew has been imposed on him from 7pm to 6am, he has been ordered to report to FICAC office every week on Monday and Thursday and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and ongoing investigations.
The case has been adjourned to 27th January 2015.
