A prominent school in Suva which was asking parents for a levy of $80 for the school’s Fun Day on the 1st of November is now refunding all the money collected so far.
This has been confirmed by Education Minister, Dr Mahendra Reddy who said that an approval was given by a lower ranked Ministry staff without their knowledge and this has now been cancelled.
Fijivillage has obtained a letter dated 13th October which was sent as a reminder to the parents whose children were part of a particular house in school.
The letter which was written on the school’s letterhead said that the $80 levy per family was due on the 29th of October.
The particular house in the school also had a meeting on the 15th of October and according to the minutes, a friendly reminder was given to the parents on the $80 levy and was also asked to support the particular house to raise $9000 towards the Fun Day on 1st November this year.
