About 95% of non‑communicable diseases in the country are due to the choices of lifestyle we make.
This is according to Dr Fane Rabici of Nausori Health Center while speaking at the Ministry of Health’s programme, “Promoting Wellness Through Rugby” which was held at Syria Park in Nausori today.
She says NCD's cannot be passed from person to another but develops in the body due to different causes.
Dr Rabici says it develops in the body for a long period of time and tends to progress slowly.
She says some of the main causes of NCD's are tobacco usage, physical inactivity, unhealthy diets and consumption of alcohol.
She says the Ministry of Health is producing a concept of wellness for the Fijian people with the belief that prevention is better than cure.
