8-year-old Alivio Tuitoma who is a cancer patient was in a great mood yesterday in the WOW’s Kids Christmas Party at the Holiday Inn in Suva.
His father, Aminio Rakata says his son was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.
Rakata says they had noticed that their son was not eating well and when it got worse they had to take him to the Hospital.
Rakata says that Alivio went through many tests and when the results stated that he has cancer, the world just turned upside down for them.
Rakata who is from Namara, Tailevu says that as a parent such news is difficult to cope with since his child has to go through so much hardship and pain that normal people just cannot understand.
Rakata stated that financial difficulties was one of the major problems they had to go through in which he had to balance family expenses and Alivio’s medical expenses.
Rakata adds that the Christmas Party yesterday shows the commitment and efforts of some people to make life worth living for unfortunate children.
He says the smile on his son’s face is more precious than anything else and these moments will be cherished forever.
