8,461 Identification Cards has been distributed so far under the Free Medicine Scheme.
Ministry of Health say 3,218 cards have been given to the Central Division, 3,617 cards in the Western Division while, 1,626 cards have been sent to the Northern Division.
Ministry says that 8,000 cards are left to be considered.
According to the Ministry close to 15,000 people have applied for the Free Medicine Scheme ID cards.
Under this program those earning $30,000 and below can register for the program and forms can be obtained from health facilities around the country.
Ministry says this program is for individuals but people can include their children under their name if they are below the age of 18.
Under the government’s free medicine scheme, individuals can get their medicine from government and private pharmacies.
If government pharmacies run out of some types of medicine, then people may be told to check for that medicine at the private pharmacy.
