There is now confirmation that 8,000 litres of diesel oil was on board the MV Suilven when it departed Ovalau before sinking at the Suva harbour on Tuesday.
Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport, Francis Kean says this information was received from the shipowners.
The owner of the vessel MV Suilven is Venu Shipping.
Kean says divers will be deployed today to determine the amount of fuel remaining in the service tanks.
He stresses that if there will be confirmation that there is fuel remaining in the vessel they will start an operation for its safe removal.
