77 schools will benefit from the Fiji Water School Grants Program after a $300,000 Fiji Water Foundation grant was awarded to 83 teachers.
This funding will be used to provide supplies, classroom-based experiences and field trips for students.
The program was introduced this year with the goal of funding $100,000 in grants to teachers, and Fiji Water has received nearly 1,000 applications from teachers from more than 400 schools.
Fiji Water says that with this being the highest number of applications, they are have now increased the program budget to $300,000 to offer additional grants.
Global President for Fiji Water, Elizabeth Stephenson say she was really overwhelmed with the incredible number of teachers who have applied for funds.
Permanent Secretary for Education, Alison Burchell says the Ministry is thankful for the great initiative that Fiji Water has shown towards the Education sector especially in contributing to the success of Fiji’s next generation.
