A 72-year-old driver who was involved in a fatal accident in Nadi last Tuesday has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and will appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
A 51‑year‑old man died after he was hit by a vehicle driven by the 72‑year‑old man along Nasoso Feeder Road.
Police say the elderly man who was driving towards Nasoso allegedly hit two pedestrians who were walking along the side of the road.
Both were rushed to the Nadi Hospital where the 51‑year‑old was pronounced dead while the other victim a 23‑year‑old man was treated and sent home.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old driver who was involved in a fatal accident in Sigatoka over the weekend is still in Police custody.
A man in his 20s died after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by the 24‑year‑old in Valley Road.
Police say it is alleged that the driver failed to stop after the accident.
Police were able to arrest the suspect yesterday morning with the assistance from eyewitnesses.
