About 7,000 people from Cuvu, Sigatoka will soon have access to their very own Health Clinic.

Sub‑divisional Medical Officer Nadroga/Navosa Dr. Sravaniya Dasi said the health center will not only benefit those living in Cuvu and nearby villages but regular commuters along the Queens Highway and tourists.

Dr. Dasi said the population of Cuvu has grown over the decades that there is a need to have these services in place to help look after the growing population.

She said the $1.3 million project which was funded by the government will have a doctor and five nurses.

Meanwhile, Acting Western Division Commissioner Luke Moroivalu says the health center is right in the harbor of Cuvu with a Police Post and a supermarket already operational in the area.

Moroivalu said Hotel and Resorts along the Sigatoka and Nadi corridor are also expected to benefit from this new development.

The Cuvu Health Center is expected to be fully operational from the second week of January next year.
