65 people currently sheltering in 3 evacuation centres in Nadi

65 people are currently sheltering in three evacuation centres in Nadi.

Police say 49 people are taking shelter in Nadi Sangam Primary School, 15 people are at Yavusania Church while 1 family is at Saint Andrews Primary School.

They say the numbers in these evacuation centres is expected to rise.

Police say that the road going from Nadi Town to Lautoka is open for heavy goods vehicles however the town is still flooded.

Officers are on the ground to restrict movement as the water level is rising.

Meanwhile 3 evacuation centres are open in Lautoka. They are Lovu Sangam Primary School, Coronation Church and Lomolomo Public School.

Police say officers are still assisting people to move to higher ground in these areas.

We have received information that 40 houses at Lovu seaside are affected by flood waters.

Vuda Back Road and Matawalu Bridge are closed to all traffic.
