63 families of Omkar Settlement in Narere are now the legal title holders of the lots at Omkar.
While handing over the 99 years registered land leases, Acting Prime Minister and Attorney‑General Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says the land leases are assets for the families that they could use as collateral to get access to finance from banks.
Sayed-Khaiyum says these families are now the legal title holders of the lots, and this is something that no one can take away from them.
He says the families could also take advantage of government’s First Home Buyers initiative to build better and stronger homes.
Sayed-Khaiyum says 20 more families will also be given their land leases at Omkar Settlement in the near future.
The Acting Prime Minister also called on the families to adhere to the land lease agreement, and use the land to build a better future for their children.
Government also issued registered leases to about 200 families in the Western Division last week.
