Five masters students from the Fiji National University and University of the South Pacific and one university staff member will be leaving sometime around September to study in European Union countries.
This has been confirmed by Information Officer Kasim Mohammed Nazeem regarding students that will be traveling to European Union countries under the Erasmus+ program.
Nazeem says these students will study in history, medicine and business in universities in Portugal, Sweden and Lithuania.
He says that 17 students will be going to Europe while five students will be arriving from Europe in the coming years.
Nazeem says that this is to allow students and university staff from countries around the world who are not in the EU to be able to study and train in European universities and vice-versa.
He says that with a monetary value allocation of $1.7 billion Euros, the Erasmus+ program will be able to fully undertake this program to its full extent.
Nazeem adds that the students’ arrival back into the country will depend on the masters program the students get enrolled in as it is usually 1-2 years.
Meanwhile Nazeem says they will be reaching out to all Universities in Fiji once the 2017 Erasmus+ call for proposals is launched so that Pacific students benefit from it to the greatest extent.
