Six people are in custody after they were found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana in three separate cases reported in the Northern Division.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said they have directed their Divisional Police Commander to step up on the policing of drug related activites.

In the first report, an 18-year-old of Naodamu, Labasa is in custody after he was found in possession of sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana on Sunday afternoon at Tuatua, Labasa.

The second incident reported yesterday where three men aged 20,21 and 23 are in custody after four sachets of dried leaves were found in their possession in Naodamu, Labasa.

In the third incident also reported yesterday, a 40-year-old woman and a man were arrested after six plastic packets containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found in their possession along the Naodamu Feeder road.

Meanwhile, Qiliho also directed his officers to ensure the war on drugs is not only focused on Operation Cavuraka currently ongoing in the Navosa Highlands.

He said their next target is to focus on those who continue to sell marijuana on the streets.
