A businessman has been charged alongside three current and two former employees of the Ministry of Health for corruption related offences.
All six accused persons appeared before Magistrate Samuela Qica in the Ba Magistrates Court.
It is alleged that businessman Mohammed Fariaz who is charged with one count of falsification of documents, one count of giving false information and one count of obtaining a financial advantage between 2011 and 2012 in the Western Division dishonestly falsified quotations with the aim of obtaining a gain in the sum of $38,412.07 from the Ministry of Health.
The other five are each charged with one count of Abuse of Office.
The accused persons are Shiri Ram, Aliti Tamani, Setefano Lagilagi, Ilisepa Bulavakarua and Mohammed Imraan.
Prosecution lawyer Sera Fatafehi informed the court that they have served the first phase of the disclosures to the accused persons and did not have any objections to bail.
The accused persons were not represented by counsels and they chose to seek legal advice from Legal Aid Commission and private counsels.
All accused persons were granted a $1000 bail bond after producing a surety each in court.
They have been given strict bail conditions.
The matter has been adjourned to 29th of November for second phase of disclosures to be served.
