Police have now confirmed that six people died in the horrific road accident near Nabou in Sigatoka this morning where a five tonne truck and a private minibus had a head on collision.
Spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed to Fijivillage that the six fatalities include the truck driver and one of his passengers as well as the driver of the minibus and three of his passengers.
Police had also said that 25 people were seriously injured in the accident.
It was a truck belonging to Grace Farm, a private minibus and a private vehicle that was involved in the accident.
The truck was delivering vegetables after 9 this morning when it is alleged it had a head on collision with the minibus that was overtaking.
A private vehicle also hit the truck from behind.
A group of passengers on their way to watch their teams play in the Super Deans semifinals in Suva this afternoon were in the minibus.
Police unable to confirm their ages at this stage as they are still in the process of notifying the families.
Viti Minibus Cooperative Limited also confirming this afternoon that the minibus is not registered with them after outrage on social media towards the company.
Police say it was a private minibus.
Investigations into the accident continue.
